Desert Schools

Camelback Desert Schools serve children from preschool age through middle school age. Its goal isn’t just to babysit children or even to just teach them. The goal is to work with children to help them reach their academic and life potential.

Desert Schools

Begin learning at an early age, says the Camelback Desert Schools. What happens early impacts a person throughout their life. Preschoolers who don’t start positively will struggle through all their years of school. Bad relationships between the student and school and teachers can result from negative early experiences. Children who dislike school perform poorly, which leads them to dislike school even more. An entire life is impacted by this.

As children grow, their learning styles will generally change. Camelback Desert Schools keeps this in mind. Young children learn in a more dependent way. This requires more teacher input. But as they grow older, children become more independent. These children want to do things more on their own, or at the most with the cooperation of their peers rather than teachers. Children are allowed to play and learn on their own, within limits, to fulfill these needs.

Like many schools, Camelback Desert Schools also has a vigorous athletics and physical education program. Their facilities are world-class in this regard. The school offers cardio, weight training, flexibility training including Yoga and Tai-Chi, even breathing exercises. They don’t ignore the knowledge part of fitness, offering academic studies in anatomy, nutrition and the importance of hydration. It’s good for children to keep active, and even better if they understand why.

Camelback Desert Schools participates in that Mountain Valley Athletic League. The sports include flag football, and basketball for the boys, as well as girls softball and soccer. The MVAL provides an importance balance between competition and participation. Both are important aspects of a child’s development.
