Can Using A Reverse Phone Search Harm The Trust In A Relationship?

It seems like in the last 12 months a entire army of reverse cell phone lookup websites have appeared which offer to give you all sorts of juicy details on the cell phone number that you have found. Here’s the problem, are these websites destroying a lot of the trust that we used to have in our relationships?

Just a few years ago you would have never thought of secretly checking your partner’s phone for unusual numbers, or if you did then you’d know there would be very little you could do apart from confronting your partner and asking for the truth. This meant that your partner was involved in the process, they had a chance to give you their side of the story and to get the truth out into the open, providing it was the truth and you believed them!

These reverse cell phone sites mean that jealous partners can just search for all of the phone numbers that are on their partner’s mobile without them being aware and that may cause them to start coming to conclusions by themselves. For instance as soon as they find a number from a member of the opposite sex that they haven’t seen before, they would instantly start to imagine all the bad things that could mean, in the past when you weren’t sure then you still had a doubt in your mind that it was just one of their friends that you already knew so you had nothing to worry about.

Will this start to hurt the trust in a relationship? Secretly invading their privacy by looking at someone’s phone is a desperate act that you wouldn’t be doing unless you thought there may be some reason for them to have phone numbers on there that they shouldn’t, so the chances are that anyone who would have done it now would have before these sites emerged. It does allow you to exclude your partner and not have to question them, but in many ways this could be a blessing in disguise - as if you find out it is an innocent number then your partner doesn’t have to know that you’ve been anywhere near their phone, which really does destroy the trust if they catch you snooping.

I am old fashioned and I think the best solution if you have any concerns about your partner is to get them out into the open and discuss them, this means you don’t accidentally break the trust of an innocent party, and you also get the chance for a guilty party to admit that they were wrong. If you still have suspicions after that chat then ask them to hand over their phone so that you can check some of the numbers on it, if they are unwilling to do that then you may have a right to be suspicious.

If you do have a number that you want to look up thing you can do a search just click here.
