Astronomy Fun Facts
For many people astronomy is an interesting science filled with many astronomy fun facts. Everything from the size and temperature of our own star, the Sun, to the makeup of distant planets is recorded. Bees facts can be entertaining and enlightening.
Astronomy fun facts about our own star, the sun, are almost endless. Measurements show it between 91 and 94.5 million miles from Earth. It’s not that nobody knows for certain. Our orbit is elliptical. The distance varies depending on where the Earth lies in that orbit.
The size of our son also provides many astronomy fun facts. As average as it is it accounts for about 98% of all the matter in the solar system. That means the earth, even with massive Jupiter on our side, is only 2%. It would take about 100 Earths to make it across this average sun. The solar wind produced by the sun extends to about 50 times the distance from the Earth to the sun from the sun. In other words those solar winds go out about 50 AU’s, with an AU being the distance from the Earth to the sun. That’s amazing.
Shall we turn to some astronomy fun facts that don’t have to do with the sun? How about the moon? It’s the only non-Earth object upon which man has walked. One fellow went there and stayed. Dr. Eugene Shoemaker loved the moon but was rejected as an astronaut. After his death he was cremated and his ashes scattered over the moon by the Lunar Prospector spacecraft in 1999.
The moon abounds with more astronomy fun facts. Ralph Kramden, in the hit TV series Honeymooners, constantly threatened to send his wife to the moon. Believe it or not, as of 1988, 13% of people still believed the moon is made of green cheese. The astronauts who walked on the moon wore suits that weighed 180 pounds on earth but a mere 30 pounds on the lunar surface. That is a big difference.
Astronomy fun facts aren’t limited to our close neighbors. Looking at stars is like looking into the past. We’re so far away that the light from the stars may take a million years to reach our eyes. It could be that some of those stars blinked out long ago. The number of stars in the sky is expressed by a one with 22 zeros following it. That is huge.
Astronomy fun facts can go on forever. But this article has to end. Learn more for yourself.

On the other hand, online reading have harmful effects. Critics say electronic media might affect reading by diminishing literacy and ruining attention spans. Traditional readers agree reading on their computer is not a quiet activity. Most of them love the relaxing touch of the pages of books. Reading from a screen can can also be very tiring. It is not an ideal environment in which to concentrate on long-form narrative. A lot of parents are anxious by the amount of time their kids spend online playing games, not reading. Another value of reading book is that it helps to lay the foundation of excellent writing skills.
